About the course

Are you eager to elevate your floristry skills to new heights? Our esteemed Academy Masters level 4 course is your gateway to unleashing your full potential in the professional floral industry.

Our course is designed for those seeking to reignite and elivate your floristry and embark on a journey of personal growth as a commercial floral designer, these courses offer distinct advantages both personal and professional. By enrolling, you’ll position yourself as a leader in the field, equipped with the expertise to stand out from the crowd. Not only will you refine your unique style and creative flair, but you’ll also pave the way for diverse career opportunities, including teaching and judging competitions.

Regrettably the City&Guilds qualification is closed now but our course will take your knowledge and skills to the level of a level 4 florist and add further skills, techniques, design understanding and construction methods.

Assessments - 3 written during the course, a portfolio of work, a plant ident and three final exams which will include a timed practical of 1.5 hrs, theory paper of 1.5 hrs and a final practical design which will be staged as part of a final exhibition.

You will also have access to an international design workshop, classes with a British Floristry judge and a top british design. Your course tutor with be our very own international master florist Tina Parkes.

To apply you will need to be either level 3 or have equal floristry experience. Selection for this course will be on examples of your practical work, a written personal statement and an interview with Tina Parkes. This can be over the phone or in person depending on where you live. You do need a good standard of English as the course assessments are in English. You also need to be available for the inclass weeks and be able to commit to the weekly Zoom call and around 12 hours per week for design work, assignments, research and theory.

We have a mixed international group so far which we feel will add lots of variety to the design aesthetic of the group.

Course cost £3,995

Includes assessment marking, flowers, foliage and sundries for both in-class blocks and all tuition, access to the international florists day course, written exam and flowers for practical 1.5 hr exam. Final exam piece- flowers will be provided by the student as each student will choose and work on their own design.

Course Structure:

- Duration: 25 weeks online plus 3 day blocks in person x 3 (one beginning, middle and end additional day course with international designer and 2 day exhibition at the end of the course. The inclass sessions at the beginning and end are required if you want to go for the exam.

- Kick-off Week: Immerse yourself in a week of vibrant designs, techniques, and concepts at the Academy, from

The first three days in class at the Academy, we have lots of great things planned for this week.

- Weekly Tuesday afternoon Sessions: Engage in weekly 1.5 to 2-hour Zoom calls to review your work, discuss challenges and set goals.

- Academy Sessions: Scheduled throughout the year to refine your skills and prepare for exams. Plus we may offer extra events that are optional to attend.

- Exam Preparation: Conclude your journey with exam and exhibition preparation during the final week at the Academy

Assessment:

- Throughout the course, complete 3 assignments, 1 plant ident and a comprehensive portfolio.

- End-of-Course Assessments: Undertake a 1.5-hour theory exam and a 1.5-hour practical exam to demonstrate

your skills and speed.
