The 2017 Flower Show season began in style for us at the Academy of Floral Art with the RHS Malvern

Spring Festival. Fourteen of our Academy students and tutors travelled from Devon, Cornwall, Wales, Somerset, London and Wiltshire to be on site over two days to help the renowned florist and presenter, Jonathan Moseley, create his ambitious 7.5 metre tall Floral Fountain display, the centrepiece for the new Shopping Arcades feature.

The Floral Fountain was inspired by the show’s spa theme, celebrating Malvern’s heyday as one of England’s finest spa resorts. Jonathan’s modern take on the Victorian park fountain used over 25 000 cut flowers and foliages and 500 glass droplets and was a towering feature of the show.

We were delighted to be collaborating with Jonathan Moseley at Malvern again this year. Jonathan is very encouraging of new talent, and we love to find exciting, live projects that give Academy students the chance to put their technical training into practice and develop their work portfolios.

The students had an opportunity to condition and handle a vast amount of flowers and also had hands-on experience making the various components of the design.

Everyone worked so well together, which made the event a fun place to be. The Academy was very proud of the students and what they achieved and very grateful to Jonathan for giving us the opportunity.
